    RUSSIAN PHYSICAL SECURITY BUSINESS 2017–2022

Sizing the Russian Physical Security Business in 2017

The Russian physical security market was approximately 70 billion rubles (1.116 billion USA dollars) in 2017. The estimated value includes all government tenders and commercial deals, and shows the revenue from video surveillance, access control, fire and intruder alarms equipment and software. This estimation leaves out fire-extinguishing appliances, information security solutions, system integration and deployment services.

Local technology suppliers oppose to each other in reporting the 2017 market performance. Some of them believe the market fell 10–20%, others say the market grew 10–20% in 2017 compared to 2016.

Of the three main businesses that make up the physical security market in Russia, Video Surveillance remains the biggest one and takes a share of around 45%. The fire and intruder alarm business is quite close with 35% of market share. By some estimates though, it is likely to equal to 50% due to significant number of government customers and regular fire safety audits conducted by Fire Safety Inspecting Officers, among other reasons. The access control business takes 20% of market share.
